I just had to toss 21 Serama eggs. They started to develop then stopped. Candled at 21 days and just a black dot no chick... Seramas usually take 19 days...I have no idea what happened. This isn’t my first time either... I’ve been having bad turn outs the last couple of times...just never zero... 😢
I can’t do it, I get attached. I can consume the eggs because I have ate eggs all my life. I just can’t bring myself to “clean” a bird for consumption. I can’t do fish either, 🤢🤮. All my birds have names and they come to me when I call them just to sit in my lap no treats required....
Just get a dog crate. You can easily put the chicken in the crate at night to sleep and keep it in the house... mine stay outside but I do bring them in from time to time... I have Seramas which are a tiny breed.
Yes, I have 2 good eggs in the incubator right now... 2 others that it is too soon to tell. With Serama chickens you don’t always get fertile eggs, I wait 10 days then I candle them if I don’t see anything they get tossed...once they hatch they go into the brooder box right there on the table...
