just the drinker than, am a bit worried, its in Melbourne, had 4 weeks of 30C recently, did not cool down until 2 AM or so, the chooks may get dehydrated?
Or, shall I just not lock them in? Have to fox proof the whole lot anyway, do does not make a difference, if the house (its a house, a small...
its more in terms of, they wake up when the sun comes out, then they will wake you up.
Should not be an issue for me, getting up 6 AM on weekdays, wake up same time on weekends. So can let them out, get back to bed.
get chicken feeders that have to be operated by the chickens, like drinker nipples and grain feeders.
Should be set at some hight, so that small critters don't get there. If it attracts insects, chooks will fix that ,-)
Also thinking about putting a rat bait station next to it.
on a 40° day they would want some drink?
Just in the process of building drinkers and feeders, thats why. Would be less mess if its just in the chicken run
Hi there,
perhaps a silly question: don't I need 2 feeders and drinkers, one each inside the house for the night and one in the run for the day?
The house would be closed at night?
Thanks for your answers!
trouble is for council regulations the house have to be 6m away from any inhabited building. But the pen I would want to put next to the fence. That area is full of weeds and the chickens would fix it up nicely I hope. Then every so often I move the pen elsewhere.
But I suppose next trouble is...

Lemon tree has mulch.
Yes, suppose once the factory chickens got new feathers there will be like new. And it will give them a new chance.
Heard they will be quite confused at the start, because they are not used to grass and all that...
Cheers...
Hi ChicKat,
yes, am in Australia. Can't you grow lemon trees in Texas, would be warm enough? The tree is established. Guess will not mind some chicken poo...
It will be s square house with a gabled roof, drawing it at present.
7-8 eggs a week will do, less trouble for the chickens, too. Don't...
Hello,
guess those questions have been asked a few times, but before I swing into action and turn timber offcuts into a nice chicken hut I better ask.
Ok, we are 2 people, so 2 chooks shall do, one on its own will go mad?
House I think about 4 x 4 feet, nest box 1 x 1 foot?
Then I fence in a...
