4 Day Old Rhode Island Reds

I just brought my babies home on Saturday and they're doing great in my homemade brooder! They'll be one week old tomorrow...at what age have you all started giving them treats? I've been handling them often so they get used to me, and even without having food in my hand, they will come to me...

Yes, I definitely want to have the happiest, healthiest chicken I can. :)

    Planning for my flock!

Thanks for the info! I have dogs and cats as well so it's good to know which ones are less skittish! My dogs are very gentle with our cats so I'm expecting them to take to the chicks quite well :) The cats don't go outside so I won't worry about them.

    Planning for my flock!

Thanks! I think we are going to go with Leghorns. I would love to get a couple Cochin's as well but I haven't found anywhere local that has them. I live in Phoenix so I would most likely have to get those shipped but I'm not sure how i feel about the whole "shipping chicks" thing...

    Planning for my flock!

Hi everyone! I am new to this whole world of raising chickens but I am very excited! I have been reading all the great tips you all have to offer and I can't wait to start my journey! Hopefully we will be drawing up the plans for our coop this weekend. ~Stefanie B
