    Baby chick emergency

1 week old had pasty butt (i think thats what its called) i cleaned it off. I noticed the abdomen is hard maybe constipated? Its much smaller than its flock mates and just lays in the momma heating pad. Not eating or drinking and kind of stumbles around. All other birds are fine. Its very very...

Projectile yellow liquid exiting vent in hen... egg bound? Something else?

I do not know how old she is im thinking 2. Ive determined its not egg bound. I'm going to end her suffering in the morning and I'll have a look within. I really strongly believe it is the egg yolk peronitis. If it is blackhead ill be able to tell as well but im betting as soon as I cut her...

Projectile yellow liquid exiting vent in hen... egg bound? Something else?

No worms in the yellow liquid. She is drinking a bit i have separated her. I looked up the egg yolk peronitis and it does seem like that might be it. Any luck on a treatment? After i realized it wasnt egg bound i figured some type of infection.

Projectile yellow liquid exiting vent in hen... egg bound? Something else?

The yellow liquid is about the consistency of egg yolk. Maybe a bit runnier. I didn't notice any fowl smell but i didnt get my nose down in it.

Projectile yellow liquid exiting vent in hen... egg bound? Something else?

Leghorn has been in the lay box for 2 and a half hours. Her stomach is covered in liquid thats leaking from her vent. Appears to be clear. Area around vent is contracting as if she is trying to lay an egg. I picked her up to have a look and then sat her back on the floor and she stumbled a bit...

    Fermenting feed with fish meal

Final update on this. Everything is fine... so fermenting fish meal feed is ok to do. I've not noticed an egg problems or slowed production. They eat it and love it. It does have a different smell but it's not bad. I've not refreshed my ferment liquid either and it's still going strong.

This morning I went out and got our fresh eggs and my husband fried them up. It was literally only and hour old egg. It was from a red sex link and the yolk was broke when he cracked the egg. Curious why this happened? this is the first time it has happened and have had no other egg problems.
