He has been occasionally crowing but it usually is a similar to the sounds my hens make, and I see what you mean about the pointed feathers now...all the signs are there and it defiantly makes a lot of sense I guess I was just in denial :p.
Thanks for your help now I have to go figure out what...
I've got a 6-7 month old orpington and we were told it was female when we got it a few months ago but I'm not sure anymore...Is it a pullet? and if so should she be laying by now?
I've got a seven week old orpington buff and I found a little worm on her. The worm was yellow and kind of translucent about half a centimetre long and it had a little black dot inside of it. I only spotted one of them and it was just sitting on a feather (not on the skin), I don't know if it is...
ok thank you guys!
Right now we have them separated with chicken wire in the run and my "established hen" is not very happy about having a new chick around:(. I am nervous to put them together because the chick got too close to the fence and my hen pecked a feather out of her! No blood, but I...
There has been an attack on the coop with only one survivor, and now that my survivor has recovered from the trauma we've got her a new chick to keep her company!
I have a one-year-old Red X, and I would like to introduce a 4 week old Orpington to her. I unintentionally let my hen see the new...
I can't really offer you mush help, but I had a chicken with the same problem. When she was young I tried to correct it by cutting the sticky parts off of a bandage and putting her foot on top of one piece and arranging her toes properly, then sticking the second piece on top of her foot. It...
I am concerned about the raccoon coming back! Raccoons would not come in the day right? And will my survivor be lonely? I won't be able to get any more birds for a while, and even when I do get more will she get along with them?
Thanks she is drinking and eating this morning so I think she will be fine! I'm pretty sure it was a raccoon, we saw the survivor attacking the creature and when we opened the door and ran outside the creature ran off so we didn't acutely get to see it close up. Thanks for the ideas!
There was an attack on my coop, only one chicken made it, and there are only feathers left behind. The poor baby is traumatized and I don't know what to do! Right now she is sitting on a blanket safely in the mud room, but she doesn't want to move, eat or drink and she is breathing with her...
Hello!:frow
I am just a chicken lover who feels very uneducated on Chickens in general! I would appreciate it if someone could inform me on the symptoms, precautionary actions to take, and treatments that I should know about if one of my hens is unwell.
1. What might you notice if a...
Hello!
I think this is a first egg for one of my chickens and i'm wondering if the smudge of blood on it is anything to worry about. (the smudge is not much but it is more obvious in real life.)
Thanks for your help
