Quick question...Although this was extremely helpful, I still find the need to ask. When will it be safe for me to add my 5 week old chicks (straight run) to my 8 week old roo and hen? I put a larger 4 chicks outside and the docile one was pretty scared. EEK!! Thanks.
She has no runny eyes or nose, and her bowels are a little weak for a chick her age but I did put her in the house for a night and she had no blood in her stool. I was pretty cautious and did a lot of searching because my initial post was not responded to until now. I want to have her checked...
Well, if anyone cares...
She is still wheezing and sneezing, but she is active.
I put her back in with her flock and am treating them all with duramycin-10 for the next few days. If her wheezing doesn't stop, I don't know what to do besides find a vet that will work with her/me.
They are all 2...
They are probably just days apart in age. My RIR (I think isn't an RIR but a Ameraucana) is MUCH bigger than the barred rock and they were 1 day apart.
Also, I have 18 chicks that are 2 weeks starting today. If they hatched on the same day they are all approximately the same size with the...
wow, well look out for the drama! High school is a big life change. Both of my girls had a lot of changes their 9th and 10th grade years. My oldest graduates this year and my youngest is a sophmore next year. Enjoying your summer so far?

wow, and you're already addicted to chicken life? My daughters could care less about what I do with the chickens. Congrats for you!
When do you graduate?
Thanks, it's been a VERY trying day. Especially since I'm supposed to be studying for midterms and finals! UGH!! Chicken life!
I can't wait until finals are over and I can focus time on keeping a healthy happy flock!
So, they have been out for a couple nights now. They were doing great until today. Today is a bad day for chickens at my house.
I let them roam for about an hour today. I am usually 100% attached to their location, but I thought, "I'm only inside the door and I need to study for my midterm"...
I brought in my 1 week old chicks today to spend a little quality time with them, and noticed my baby barred rock was wheezing and had a naked belly. No pecking order has been established yet and she just seems weak and tired. I am going to bring her in and watch her but I'm not sure what to...
