Sorry I didn't get back before today. Wasn't on the computer this weekend. I ended up finding a local source and got 60 eggs: BCMs, Cream Legbars, Araucana, Wyndotte (these were hatchery), plus some BB Red and Silkie.
Thanks for the offer!
I would be interested...but yes...driving for 6 eggs is probably not worth it. If someone is coming this way, that would be great...but I don't want you to have to go out of your way to do it.
What can you tell me about your RIRs?
Thanks!
I have not had the best of luck with shipped eggs...that being said, I may be interested...what would you charge and how many would you send? I wouldn't need the mixed eggs...I have some mixed marans birds laying now.
Where are your birds from, if I may ask?
Still looking for some hatching eggs in Southwestern Indiana. Preferably non-hatchery, pure bred standard size chickens. I like dual purpose chickens, but I would be willing to consider anything! Please let me know if you have anything you would sell. I live 30 min north of Evansville. I am...

Last year my Delawares were one of the first to hatch....but I have a new rooster this year, so that could be what the deal was. I am on Day 21 now......and I have only 3 eggs left. I had two die after zipping (not sure what that was about) and I had one that doesn't look like it is going to...
I will try to do that when I get home. My wife just let me know that we are up to 31 now.
Very interesting how different breeds hatch at different rates. My Speckled Sussex pipped at the end of day 18 and hatched very early on day 20, Olive Eggers and BCM's hatched at the same rate on day...
I am giving 16 of these to a friend. I'll keep some, sell some...roosters will get put in the freezer ;)
I am specifically working with the Delaware breed, so I will hatch a lot more this year and try to keep the best hens for breeding next year. I try to keep about 25-30 hens year round.
I haven't been doing a good job of keeping up! I have been out of town and not been able to get pictures until tonight. Here is my incubator...I bought it from someone and made several modifications....it really does an outstanding job!
The temp and humidity are down because the door...
I found my homemade incubator on craigslist and did some modifications to it. I can incubate 82 eggs at a time with the automatic turners. It has served me very well!
You know...my experience with my incubator has always been about 20.5 days...I would count the night I set it as day 1 and expect to see them start hatching in the middle of the day on day 21. Not sure if that is the case with everyone else, but it has been very consistent for me.
Tonight was day 8 for my 59 eggs. I candled them all and found that I had 6 blood rings and 10 that weren't fertile. That being said, I now have 43 in the incubator that are developing well. Last year I had about a 95% hatch rate for the ones that I could tell were developing by day 10 (not...
