Picked up "Cotton" at the swap in May. My wife was excited to get such a beautiful silkie hen.
I noticed her trying to crow the other morning.
Still no eggs yet either.

If your an animal lover and want to save every fuzzy thing in existense; then you probably won't be able to do it. I have around 7-8 roos that are going to live to a ripe old age with no worries from me. Just accept that your food will come from the grocery store wrapped in plastic. or find a...
Your pic is too close and out of focus but it looks like an Aussie. Look at the other pics. Aussies have clean legs and it appears that the marans have fuzzy legs.
My aussies at 12 weeks still have white wing tips.
My chickens are special.
I was going to put them up for the night around 8 when one of those wonderful Florida suprise storms started. You know the ones that come out of nowhere and drop 3" of rain in 2 minutes. So I figure that it will end in 5 minutes and surely my chickens are smart enough...

I'm not seeing anything wrong with your construction.
Once you tie it all together it should become much sturdier. Construction adhesive like liquid nails or PL premium will go a long way towards giving you strength as well. Lay down a bead on each floor joist before you drop in the plywood...
Look at the chicken in the second pic at this link. His head is pink. Is this lighting, genetics, people doing odd things to their chickens? not that I haven't seen this trend here.
