    Brahmas

I'm looking to order som brahmas next year and was curious about the 3 colors. If I get a mixed colored flock with a rooster, what colors will I get? I'm specifically interested in the dark and the buff colors.

    Automatic waterers and feeders

Can I see everyone's automatic feeders and waterers please? I will converting rabbit hutches into quail pens by the end of the year and would prefer an automatic system. And pictures and details of how to set it up would be great.

Books on Quail. . . Which one?

I'm looking to start raising quail this spring/summer. I've read the sticky threads but I always like to have a good book on hand for research before getting a new animal and troubleshooting once I've got the new animal. What books do you recommend and why?

    Virginia

Hi everyone!! We will be having a chicken swap at the Dinwiddie Tractor Supply on Sunday March 16th from 1-4. Nothing larger than a goat. All animals must have food, water, and adequate shelter. Hope to see a lot of people there!!

hens getting roughes up by roos

Everyone is under 1 year. The roosters are maybe a couple weeks-1 month older than the hens. Thanks everyone. Glad to know everything is normal. I did pull out one hen that was getting beat up by every one. She's set up in a small shed type thing I have with a makeshift run attached to...

hens getting roughes up by roos

I have 23 hens and 2 roosters. Recently I've noticed that the majority of my girls have small bald patches on the back of their heads. What can I do to help my girls from getting roughed up by my roos?

    Chick not feathering out

Another little update. After talking with her new owner, we believe that her wings are actually upside down. She cannot stretch her wings out, she cannot fly. She sleeps on the floor of the coop since she can't get up on the lowest roost.

    Chick not feathering out

She doesn't get picked on anymore. She's still a little too young to be laying. I'm thinking October is when she'll start if my math is right.

    Chick not feathering out

Don't know what hatchery. I bought 12 australorps and 12 buff orpingtons from a local feed store. I never asked where they originally came from. One chick was the only 'defective' one in either bunch.

    Chick not feathering out

I'm not sure if the wing bone itself is upside down or her feathers are. If you look back at post #8 there's a link to a BYC album. Those were taken a while ago when she was still 'naked'. You can see her wing feathers sticking almost straight up. They are still like that now with her fully...

    Chick not feathering out

Little update on my naked chicken. She's no longer naked. She has completely feathered out. Her wings however are upside down. I'm assuming its genetic. She is definitely an odd ball in her new flock of RIRs and bantams. Another odd thing is that she is in love with her new owner's dog...
