Chick not feathering out

Little update on my naked chicken. She's no longer naked. She has completely feathered out. Her wings however are upside down. I'm assuming its genetic. She is definitely an odd ball in her new flock of RIRs and bantams.

Another odd thing is that she is in love with her new owner's dog. Whenever he is let outside she follows him around the yard. The dog doesn't bother the chickens (he is smaller than them).

What do you mean her wings are upside down? Do you mean they are literally upside down on her body?

I'm not sure if the wing bone itself is upside down or her feathers are. If you look back at post #8 there's a link to a BYC album. Those were taken a while ago when she was still 'naked'. You can see her wing feathers sticking almost straight up. They are still like that now with her fully feathered.

That is one messed up chicken, the poor thing. I wouldn't even want to eat that one. What hatchery did it come from?

Don't know what hatchery. I bought 12 australorps and 12 buff orpingtons from a local feed store. I never asked where they originally came from. One chick was the only 'defective' one in either bunch.

Ok. You will love the Black Australorps. I have some and they are nice birds.
