    So I have six gold comets that I got as chicks, and they are now almost 16 weeks old. Four of them still have quite small/pale combs and waddles. Two of them have larger red combs and waddles. Roughly when should I expect them to turn fully red and start laying? I thought this was to be expected...

    Chick brooder - would love some feedback

    Thanks to everyone for all the help! This is great. I’ll be on the lookout for their behavior. So far so good! Feel free to chime in with more suggestions if they are out there. We are very excited about this - much appreciated.

    Thanks Dooney! They seem pretty content. I’m probably being a bit paranoid since they are so little and I want them to thrive. Temp is reading about 90 degrees but I’m sure there some warmer/cooler spots throughout the brooder. They are all pretty sleepy now!

I was hoping that since the brooder is large enough, they will naturally move to a “sweet spot” for heat. A couple of them had pasty butt last night, but it was easy to fix with...
