Yeah one of my late cats went blind and it looks the same.
Our coop floor is elevated 2 ft off the ground so our highest roost is 3 ft from the coop floor, but the floor is a wire mesh. Actually if you look at my profile pic, you can see the coop floor (and Harley, the half blind EE). It's when...
When I first saw her eye and looked it up, most of the cases had that swollen/deformed look. Other than the cloudy eye, I didn't see a difference in my first look. Again, I'll check again. Thankfully she has no trouble getting down the ramp nor does she have trouble jumping up into the coop and...
For the past several months my EE hasn't come down from the top roost unless I open the coop door and she jumps all the way out. It's a 7 foot jump. Thankfully she doesn't get injured.
I just noticed she's blind in one eye. I have no clue how it happened. Maybe age? She's 9 years old. She still...
Good thing I asked before mixing it in. She suppose to take the tablet itself, no solution, right?
Maybe a little improvement, but nothing has gotten worse.
Fish zole has arrived! I'll go ahead and mix it in with the acidified copper sulfate.
Should I stick with the dosage provided here? https://www.jedds.com/shop/fish-zole-250mg-60-ct/
New photos. The bumps are hard to see because of her salvia but no sight of other material in or outside the beak. Breath still kinda smelly.
She still has the desire to get out and forage with the others.
*update*
I moved the kennel out there and yeah, if the others have probably been exposed already, then I do wonder if I should just let her roam freely especially because all the water dishes have the solution.
The left side where the first bump was hasn't changed, no more no less.
I did notice 1-2 bumps on the right side of her mouth. Nothing much on the outside. I didn't quite see anything on the roof of her mouth or toward her throat.
She is in a kennel with her own food and treated water on the patio so I can definitely move the kennel out by the coop or something.
I assume even with all water dishes treated with the solution, she should still be isolated, correct?
She wants to be out with her flock but I don't want to risk spreading it.
Yeah the manager there suggested it as I wait for the fish zole and confirmed that it was acidified and not the stuff used for plants.
Once the zole arrives, do you know if it's safe to use both?
I have a bottle of fish zole that should arrive tomorrow but in the mean time I've been calling around to see if I can get it sooner. One of the feed stores near me suggested I try acidified copper sulfate. Could that help?
She's 6 years old and is still a productive layer. I noticed her acting different about 2-3 days ago but I'm pretty sure she laid right before that. It was pretty easy to split, I did it with a stick.
I didn't any gunk in her beak or throat. I'll keep an eye on it though.
It was next to her poo (which looked like a healthy large poo) so I assumed it came out the other end. I still have it in case I take her to the vet. Cut it in half.
Her behavior is still the same, eating, drinking, talking, walking around and being aware overall. She's just not as quick as...
Good to know!
She still eats, drinks and is aware of things overall. She's just a tad slower. I'll compare her breath to a healthy hen.
This was next to her poo so I'm thinking she pooped this out.
