Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

I haven't been here in a while but I've been thinking about everybody. Fun news from our house is that our australop rooster died :(, and somehow a silky rooster fertilized our australop hen believe it or not. Then that little huzzy hid in the chicken coop and hatched out three of the ugliest...

Rooster is attacking hen. Hen is fluffed up.

The hen runs around and is fluffed up when he comes around. He will attack her by pecking (not spurring) when she gets too close. I put him in jail for 4 days, then let him out thinking he would stop. She doesnt seem to be broody, as she has not stopped, and is not trying to sit eggs. I have...

    Am I killing my chicks?

This is what im wondering about. Its possible. This last one, I suspected immediately that there would be a problem, cause when I gave it to the chick, it didn't move its tongue up and down fast, like the others have. I suspected it was gonna choke, but it was too late. Is my way of forcing a...

    Am I killing my chicks?

No kidding? I don't server oyster shells, ever. That's just if they don't have enough calcium for egg laying thought right? Ill keep that in mind about the food, and tell the wife to woah up on the scratch. I have told her, but she doesn't listen. She just smiles and says "But they are my...

    Am I killing my chicks?

Mine stays on the plate sometimes, then off it sometimes. It has worked fine with other plates. I use a injector without the needle, and drop water on their beaks. This cant be the reason they are dying right?

    Am I killing my chicks?

I did introduce them to water when I put them in the brooder. There are also chicks that are also chicks from a previous hatch in there that are 3 weeks old. They were all eating and drinking. Its medicated chick starter by FRM.

    Am I killing my chicks?

Im using a heating plate in the brooder. They were hatched in a incubator and have never been outside. The first 2 died hours after hatching. This is the first one to die after the initial hatch. They are on medicated feed.

    Am I killing my chicks?

I have had 3 weak chicks recently. I have been using a eye dropper to "help" them get water. I raise their beak, and drop 4-6 drops of water on their beak. I cant get one to live. They were weak either after hatching, or the one just now, it was 3 days old or so. It got weak, and was...

Mean or fun? I make my chickens chase a laser pointer.

Absolutely hysterical! Just like a dog, they chase it all over the brood box!

I do. It's still in the incubator cause I can control the temp. All it's siblings are active. I need to get it moving.

    Newborn chick with no energy.

I have been giving it water with some electrolytes, and it takes it well. It knows what im doing and it lets me. I hold it vertical, and it opens its beak and waits for the water. I have also been crushing up 4-5 crumbles of food each time and sprinkling it in its mouth, then washing it down...
