Funny update: I picked up four new baby ducklings today and as soon as I got in, the babies did too! Hilariously, my most vocal preteen duck yelled at everyone and drove right in so I think I solved the problem lol
Hello all I'm wanting to add some minnows to my little duck pool, but because it's just hose water, the fish don't make it very long and I'm wondering if I can add some of the fish tank water conditioner stuff so that the fish will last longer and my ducks will have live food as intended...
I have two 5 month old silkie roosters (only silkies we got and they're both male 🤦♀️lol)
They're doing really well in the flock (9 hens) but my questions are:
1- Can they even breed with the normal sized hens? The two biggest hens I have are two buff brahmas, then one austrolorp, a sussex...
UPDATE: this rooster crows all day! I love him, but holy sheet he is vocal. Is there a stage of raging hormones they go through? Lol I imagine it's like any other male on earth and he'll eventually grow out of it? I really don't want to have to get him a no crow :(
So now what? Lol The hubs suggested that we separate him, but I don't want to cause him any trauma. We're not supposed to have roosters in city limits, but he's so sweet and loves hugs ❤ Will his crow get louder as he ages? At the volume it is now we can manage, but if it gets any louder, I'll...
This is my 4 month old EE Punkin. Recently we've been hearing some crowing coming from our coop and I think she.. er he is the culprit. I got her/him at Thiesens so I wouldn't be surprised! What do you think?
Hey chicken friends! So today I went out to do my usual chicken duties, and I saw that my little Ezmerelda has a huge bald spot on her bottom! I also noticed one of the other chickens pecking at her, so do you think they're picking on her? She is the smallest one out of the nine. Also, it's...
I'm happy to know that she's a she! Thank you for all the great info! I will definitely try the eye contact and making myself look bigger :). All of your chickens are beautiful! I'm happy that they're such little individuals with different personalities, makes me love them even more! :)
Yes I have definitely given her a few firm (but not too hard) flicks to prove that I'm the boss, but she recovers quickly and just gets mad about it. Now I just pick her up and talk gently to her which usually helps a little. Any word on if she looks like a rooster?
