Thanks for all of your help! It hatched with just VERY Minor assistance. I opened the hole a tad bit more and then left it in the bator. When I came back out it was out of the egg but still attached (via what looks like umbilical cord). I posted a question on the June Hatch Along. Sounds like it...
Good morning! I have had a chick that has been externally piped for 2 days. This morning it finally hatched but it is still attached to its egg. Seems strong (standing and chirping). Will it naturally break loose from the egg or is assistance needed? Thank you for any tips!!!
Thank you for responding! Today is day 21. It externally piped sooner than I was expecting. This egg and one other are the last 2 chicken eggs in the bator. They were added later after a hen abandoned her clutch. More pics on Instagram @littlelonglove
This is my first time incubating eggs! I have had 6 successfully hatch and these are the last two eggs. This one externally piped 2 days ago and has made little progress. Very active and chirping. I expanded the air hole size because I had to be gone all day today. I fear that was my mistake...
Thanks! I have been trying to get my hands on another incubator but no such luck! I did think about the cut egg carton and will place them on that tomorrow! I just am worries I will not be able to keep the humidity where it needs to be. I need to do more research on misting the eggs to be prepared!

My pekin duck has gone broody. She shares a coop with other ducks and chickens. She originally had a clutch of 6 eggs and started to sit 10 days ago. Gradually one by one things have happened to the eggs. I was blaming the chickens. Last night we separated her off via a temporary wall. She was...
I posted this earlier and did not get a response...
Will someone please tell me if the yolk in the bottom of a duck nest from a cracked egg will be detrimental to the other developing eggs. My Pekin duck has a nest with 2 eggs that I can see veining inside of. Two of the eggs are not showing any...
My Pekin just recently became broody for the first time. She had a clutch of 6 eggs and I had not seen her come off of the nest for the past 3 days. I was doubtful that she would carry it out for the full 28 days, but I was hopeful. Today when I got home she was not sitting on them. I went in to...
