I would like to speed up multing in my flock too. 4 of my 5 hens have all started and 1 egg a day doesn't keep up with my families consumption so I am looking at having to buy store bought eggs, argh!!! I'm headed out to get high protein foods to try to get them back to laying!
Oh Micky, I am running into resistance from my Mother-in-law. Since she was there to watch him hatch she's all attached to him now. Let me see if I can convince her!
Anyone looking for a good roo for their flock in CO? I hatched him last November, I was hoping for 12 hens from the eggs my Buff O sat on, but only one hatched and of course it was a roo! He's friendly and calm and good with the hens, I just don't need a roo

HELP! I ordered 12 Bobwhite eggs (received 18 total and two had cracks so I laid in 16) when one of my hens went broody and I didn't really want any more chickens but my friend wanted some quail for his property. I thought, ok, we'll give it a go and see what happens. What happened was...
Seems like pus in the eye, no discharge and no signs of respitory disease(no sneezing or wheezing). No outward signs of injury. It started slow about 2-2.5 weeks ago. No problems with the other eye.
This isn't good. I've been using neosporen but not improving. She doesn't seem to have any other side effects so I'm thinking just an eye issue. She's eating, foraging, laying and drinking water. Any suggestions for treatment?
