We have a pet safe in ground dog fence.
We've had breaks in the wire over the years and find them easy to find and repair using a wire dectector.
However currently our transmitter says we have a break. But we are unable to find it using 2 different wire detectors.
We are suspecting the...
We are able to give the chicks and mom food and water 3 days is what I was thinking. There are 12 chicks so far. And today I saw no sign of a freshly hatch chick
Have a hen with a nest in a flower pot.
Chicks started hatching early Monday. It is now Wednesday. I see at least 3 more eggs in hatched. How long do we give them to hatch.
We plan to move her and her chicks to a special area set up for them and not a flower pot on the front porch.
So to answer my question and for other looking for this information.
After 12-24 hours, the scrotum will get cold and hard.
It will continue over time to get smaller and fall off in about 30 days give or take a few.

We recently acquired 3 intact 1.5 year old goats. We decided to band them.

Definitely looking for broody traits. She is making raising new chicks very easy. And she seems very happy to do it. And I'm 99% one of our Bantam roosters is a cochin, so we are good to go. many thanks again.
Ok Many thanks I was thinking she was a "mutt" She has been fighting with a "True silky" looking hen recently. But that is now over. I was considering trying a cage with the silky and another hen we have I suspect as being broody.
Got this one from am auction some time ago. She was raising 5 guinea chicks. She is definitely a broody hen. She is now sitting on 8 chicks we picked up.
1. What breed is she?
2. Is this breed known for being broody?
3. Would like to breed her, any suggestingions on a breed of rooster to use...
