Chick hatched with lump on abdomen

Good morning! Thanks for all the help, I'm waiting to hear how the chick, dubbed Rocky, did through the night. He managed to escape the shift egg setup yesterday. He also had a little drink. I'll let you know how he is doing once I hear.

He is still drying in the bator. I'll have to get them a little brooder setup for him. :fl

Chick hatched with lump on abdomen

Thanks for the reply! I don't think it is the yolk sac since it is very fleshy, but since I've never seen one or even intervened before, I don't know. Is the yolk fleshy and red? This chick was drying out after attempting to hatch for so long. It pipped on Monday around 11 am and I finally...

    What might this chick be?

I think the bottom one is actually a Welsummer. It has those barred feathers that I think are indicative of that type. The other one, I have no guesses. It could be an easter egger or olive egger. I don't see anything in this photo that gives any clues. Sorry! Perhaps someone with a better eye...

Chick hatched with lump on abdomen

Help! I did a hatch for a preschool class and one of the chicks has a strange lump on it's belly. I admit, it was not making progress after 48 + hours and I was expecting it to be deceased this morning, but I was able to assist it out of the shell, since it was peeping this morning and I just...

    Advice on Selling Bantams

I'm in PA and these are from TSC. I was thinking of asking $50 for 8 - 10 birds which seems on par with what you said.

    Advice on Selling Bantams

Hello! I lost my flock this winter and went a little bonkers with the chicks in the spring, leaving me with more bantams than I can keep. I've never sold any of my chickens before. Anyone have advice? I was hoping to just sell around 8-10 of my bantams (assorted breeds and genders) as one lot...

    Sexing Easter Eggers

Here are 3 of my 4 EEs at about 6 weeks. I think 2 are cockerels and one pullet? But this is my first time with chicks and from this thread I'm getting that EEs aren't the easiest to sex! I really want this one to be a puller...she is very sweet and mellow! This one I think pullet? This...

    Easter Egger?

Thanks everyone! Glad to know it has happened to others. I'm hoping that one is a pullet, but I also hope she mellows out too. Maybe it is from being "behind" the flock, but she does not like to be held and puts up a racket! I did notice some pin feathers today too, so the feathers are coming in!
