Hello
I grew up hatching and raising chickens, ducks, quail, pheasants, and chukar partridges. As well as cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, Guinea pigs, llamas and other critters. I even hatched some teeny tiny barn swallows eggs when their nest was compromised.
I haven’t had any birds...
Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it
They've been really easy so far. So calm. I am used to flightier birds. But these girls are great with the kids.
What breed/s do you think these hens are?
They were born in spring. So they should be between 6-8 months old.
They are very friendly.
They lay only brown eggs.
The two brown eggs collected today are 66 & 69 grams.
Thank you!
I haven't had chickens in a while but am moving to a place where I can! Yay!
My question is how do I prevent rats?
The lady who previously lived where I am movingly to said the place next door attracts a lot of rats and to be wary of that.
I personally have never had any run in with rats so I am...
I've noticed my Costco sells chicken feed. Does anyone know if it's good? I don't know the brand. Next time I go I will pay attention to that.
Any suggestions are welcome.
How many square feet should a coop be for 8 Maran chickens?
I haven't had chickens in a while and I need to build a coop. Any suggestions or advice is welcome.
I would like suggestions on incubators. What kind do you use? I've only ever used a styrofoam one and I think I'd like to upgrade. Is there a big difference in the hatch rate between a styrofoam vs. a more expensive plastic one?
Hi I was wondering if anyone had any special tips on how to make a hay bale garden?
An old acquaintance told me you can grow things with a hay bale? Is this true? Does it work well? What can I grow?
Thanks in advance
