He had a similiar issue with mice and rats here in Round Rock, lots of limestone caves where the little buggers live.
We would have dozens scurrying up the trees, coops and run when we would go out at night.
One step we took was getting metal feeders where the hens step on a bar to open it...
Morning ALL,
I had a buddy ask me what a "4-1 Hen Egg" was and I am not able to track down what it is.
He saw it on a menu at a restaurant he frequents and in doing a Google search I too see where it is referenced in different menus.
Can someone shed some light on the subject?
Thanks...
Evening,
L
ooks like we have a hen with prolapse that almost looks like there is an egg inverted too.
Have a couple of pics of what we are seeing.
Looks like a lost cause to us but if there is anyone who can shed some light on the subject and if there is any hope in saving this Red...
Finally came to the conclusion one of our hens does not have a worm issue but has Marek's disease.
I had to dispatch her this morning.
Question now ... Is it too late to vaccinate the other pullets and hens ( they range in age from 6 months to a couple years) or is it a lost cause?
Thanks ...

My daughter found a chicken poop that had a white worm about 2" long and the diameter of a "thin" piece of angel hair pasta noodle.
We also just returned from the feed store where we talked with someone who suggested we treat all of our hens with Corid...

We have a 2 year old Australorp that has gone lame.
3 days ago we noticed her sitting on the ground a lot and not walking much.
A day later she lost all control oif her legs. They are totally limp and she leans to one side because she cannot get her feet under her.
She also has...
She did have a slight runny nose when we first quarantined her, the mucos was clear. Also her eyes seemed to tear, again clear liquid. We did give her a shot of Tynan 3 days ago, but no change yet. I saw a reference on another post that green poop is a sign of infection or starvation. She...
We have a 1 year old Barred Rock Hen that we observed just standing around with her eyes closed. Doesn't move much, eats and drinks little. We have quarantined her to continue observation. She looks fine, but keeps her eyes closed. We have given a shot of antibiotics, but no improvement...
I'm a new chicken owner, so I know I have a lot to learn. Our silkie pullet is sneezing and breathing with a little rattle. I've been watching over the past few days and there is no discharge from the nose or mouth. Her energy level and appetite are good. Is there any over the counter animal...
