Why specifically straw in the nesting box? (The Gals don't like it!!!)

Try some different types! what type are you using now? Is it meant hay for feeding cows and large farm animals? If it is they might not like it! But is its not, you may want to give it a try. Also when hens are young they usually don't start using nest boxes right away. Try encouraging it by...

Do Silkie roosters tend to be aggressive?

You should be fine as long as your kids don't terrorize him and the hens to bad, if they do, it is a possibility. If they are very nice with your chickens, Your silkie will most likely not be aggressive. I've had 2 in the past (2 silkie roosters) and 1 would false attack. He would never attack...

Can I Use Baby Oil To Make My Silkies Shiny?

I've heard its been done with feathers birds, but i wouldn't use it on a silkie. You could use it on the comb and wattle to make them shiny and new looking though. Good luck at the show!

    HELP SICK CHICKENS

Sounds slightly like cocksidiousis. I suggest feeding chilli flakes to ALL of your other chickens, or if there really looking not well feed them a chilli pepper whole, or cut it into bits if they won't eat it and shove it down! If this doesn't seem to work for them, try farming antibiotics in...

Is my 7 weeks old Buff Orphington a hen or Roost?

Its hard to say at that age. Is He/she clucking yet? You can tell by the cluck most times. If it is deep or lower its probably a male, and if its light and feathery it is quiet possibly a female. By the looks of it, I would say a male though. Don't trust us people on the internet though! We...
