I know this is almost a year late but my jubilee english orpingtons I got from Meyer hatchery just started laying. They are beautiful, healthy, and definitely English. They're basically giant chicken spheres with heads honestly, very round and fluffy and sweet.
So I have six chickens at the moment and I'm pretty sure I've got their genders down but there's one or two I'm a little nervous about.
First off we have mozzarella who's 10 weeks old, we think she's an easter egger pullet but her face has pinked up a little recently but still no comb...
Hi all,
I recently had two give two surprise cockerels to my neighbor and he offered us one of his 3 week old chicks in return. We have 4 4-week old chicks and 1 6 week old one at home already and we thought she would be around the same size as our 4 week old ones so it wouldn't be an issue...
One of my chicks was peeping nonstop from the post office up until she passed about 40 hours after coming home. Not sure what was up with her but we tried electrolytes and treating for cocci and it didn't work 💔
We have 5 4 week old peeps that we got online as well and I'm more certain that they're ladies since none even have combs and their tails are huge. 2 lavender orpingtons, 2 jubilee orpingtons, and one lil cream legbar
Oh noooo, we can't really have a rooster here. Especially not 2! There's no way at least one might be a girl? Also they're most likely RIR since the feed store had those, orps, EEs, and speckled Sussex 💔
Hi! I bought three "buff orpington" pullets at my local feed store a few weeks back and they are absolutely not orps and honestly I suspect at least one might be a rooster.... Can any pro chicken parents help me? I have mozzarella, parmesan, and pepperjack. Mozzy I'm pretty sure is an easter...
Brooder is a 4x2 plastic storage tub filled with pine shavings. They're getting a bigger brooder tomorrow. Her poops are weird and stringy and sometimes watery but she's eating and drinking lots. She's also much smaller than my other orpingtons and doesn't have any tiny wing feathers like...
Their sleeping spot is in the corner next to heat lamp so it's about 80 on the other side of the brooder. I'll move the lamp though. They hatched on Monday and arrived Wednesday from Meyer hatchery, the other three are almost annoyingly healthy. It's just the 2 lavender orpingtons that have...
It's 91 in their favorite sleeping spot and their food and water is on the other side in the cooler area with room to sleep if they want to. They came from Meyer hatchery and the other three I got are doing fine, it's just the 2 lavender orpingtons that aren't well. I'm really hoping I don't...
One of my new chicks looks like it has a stuffy nose. It keeps scratching at its face, doing the drinking motion with its beak, and shaking its head. It sneezed earlier and it looks like snot came out or something. Also I can hear her nose clicking a little when she peeps. Her sister died last...
