We used a styrofoam cooler that food gets shipped in I recessed a piece of plexiglass and a 40w incandescent bulb plugged into a Inkbird ITC-306T Pre-Wired Electronic Heating Thermostat Temperature Controller.

We had chickens and got a few roosters last year. Well 11of the 17 were roos. So decided to to try our hand at hatching some. Built our own incubator. Put in 18 eggs. On day 20 the first one hatched. Day 21 we had 13 more hatch. I am super impressed in how well things have gone. Kids are over...

We had a bit of a mishap at the house a few months. The chickens were under attack and a rooster and hen came up missing. I set some leg traps that night and the next day managed to catch something. One of the hen got out and was in leg trap. Broke it just below the knee. I put a splint on it...

I honestly might eat them. We have processed deer that have been gnawed on by coyotes. I would atleast process the birds and look at and smell the meat. Maybe the breast and leg meat are still good. Again thats just me. My wife says i make dumb decisions all the time though.

Any idea on breeds?

I have read many post about how I got the chickens from so and so and they were supposed to be such and such. Well I now have that. The leg horns are obvious but the other 4 breeds have me puzzled. They are all around 7 months old. Were supposed to be Black Asian.

I have used the horizontal nipples with great success. Even with -5 deg F temp they didnt freeze with the heater. makes watering so much easier. I treated them on the 24th of july. Was going to treat again on Aug. 3rd.

Can i offer her eggs from the chickens that have been treated for worms? We have just been tossing them in the weeds. She did eat a couple of earth worms this morning and was walking around the yard a bit look for snacks.This site and the people on it are awesome. I have read and learned so much...
