    Adding new chicks

I have nine1-year-old black Australorps (pullets)and I want to add 6 sex links(pullets) and two roosters, all six months old. How should I introduce them to my chickens without ruffling any feathers so to speak. I know my chicks are pretty proprietary and have a definited pecking order. I...

    Fully developed combs?

Sorry. Wrong reply. No, not a mix, just plain old Auatralorps. I'm going to take the suggestion of googling to look for photos.

are y'all better off than you were 4 years ago ?

My buisness has been ruined in the last 4 years. I just can't to wait see this clown out of the Whitehouse even if it takes four years and a few months. He is an enemy of buisness unless you are Solyndra. His friends have done well.

    Fully developed combs?

I read that chickens need fully developed combs before they start laying. I have 12 beautiful Black Australorps that are 5 months old and they have only the tiniest combs. I have never had this breed before, only Rhode Island Reds. Do the Australorps just have small combs? Geoff

    scraps and veggies

Thanks for all the replies. I put out grit and seashell for them, but they aren't interested yet. I also hung a cabbage, but they haven't touched that yet either. I'll wait another couple of weeks before giving them the commercial treats. My girls are so big and healthy and really enjoy the...

    scraps and veggies

.My Black Australorps are exactly one month old. How old should they be before I give them food scraps and veggies?? They are racing around their pen grabbing every bug that moves so I figured it might be a good time to expand their gourmet choices

Some bad news and some good news. The woman at cheapchickhaterchery.com really let me down. My chickens never arrived and she had excuse after excuse. Finally, I got fed up and asked for a refund. Yesterday I brought home 12 young ladies (Black Australorps) They are are doing fine and I hope...

    Anyone have new chicks coming?

I picked up 12 baby Australorps yesterday. It only took a few hours before they made themselves at home. I figure if I keep them warm, watered and well fed they will do just fine. Little chickies have to be tough to survive right out of the shell and unless you are really careless, they will...

Thank you Aina. I guess it's best to listen to the chickens and observe their behavior before trying to second guess what their difinition of cold is. Thank you for your great advice. I'm going to try to post some pictures of my coop whic is a temporary one until I get the palace built. I...

Wow! I cannot believe al the amazing feedback you guys have given me regarding heating my coop. The last time I raised chickens was in Texas on the Madagorda Bay. No problem with hot and cold just hungry racoons. I have changed my original plans for heating and I have decided to place a small...
