    calling any one from missouri

I am going to be moving to Columbia in a few weeks. I have 6 hens that I would really like to keep. The problem is that I do not have a house bought yet, so I will have to be in temporary housing. Is there anyone in the area that would be willing to board my chickens until I get a house? I...

Hey Sphinx, I bought a Hova Bator 1602N. I had it up and running last week Thursday, so I could monitor the temp. I have 3 thermometers inside to make sure. I also have a room thermometer to make sure there are no huge fluctuations in room temp. Thanks for the link to that page. That "how to"...

Oh man, in typical Syracuse Dan fashion I choose the hard way... I bought an incubator and received 26 Muscovy duck eggs in the mail over the weekend. Nothing like picking the hard ones first. Does anyone have any experience with Muscovy's?

They will be a straight run, and I do not want to be stuck with a bunch of chickens! Usually there are ducks or turkeys included, so if i can sell most of the chicks for $2-$3 and break even, it will be a win. Free chickens, turkeys, and ducks! Maybe you all could help me identify them if I...

I was thinking about buying the Cackle Hatchery Surprise box... I know that I do not need 30 extra chickens. Do you think I would have a problem selling the extras in the Layton area? I don't have any experience selling poultry on KSL. I was thinking about selling them for $2 each? What do you...

Are eggs really that difficult to hatch that you might only have a 10% success rate? I imagine it depends on breed?

Hi Everyone - New Member in New York

I'm doing the exact same thing. I got 6 chicks right now for eggs, and later this summer I'll get some for meat. Good Luck!

I'd be pretty excited raising chickens outside of Buffalo too! Good wings! As far as predators go, you would be surprised how many foxes, coyotes, and coons are around that you have never seen.

    Hello from Ireland!

Skunks mostly like the eggs. They are not very aggressive. It must be pretty difficult to mink proof a coop!

RedIII, I'm sorry to hear about your hatching problems. That has to be very hard. It kind of makes me a little hesitant to try to hatch myself...

    Hello from Ireland!

I have foxes around me too, but it doesn't sound like I have near as many! I do have raccoons and coyotes, but where I live we have TONS of skunks! Do the mink eat the eggs, or will they mess with the chickens?
