Her breath didn't smell sour. She's stressing me out! She won't eat chicken food, but she'll eat tomatoes. She won't eat baby bird food (and I've never had a chicken refuse that).
Sunday her crop seemed pretty squishy, like she'd been drinking a lot of water.
Monday morning her crop was...
Hi there! The vet did a few x-rays, and said that she wasn't egg bound.
She won't eat scrambled egg, or the shell and we do have calcium available.
I'm starting to suspect sour crop - as her crop is a bit squishy. I was assuming that she was just drinking lots. Though I've seen her drink...
This is one of my lap chickens from my flock of 10. She is a Barred Plymouth Rock, 1 year and 5 months old. She's always been smaller than our other BRBs, but feels bonier than normal.
She started showing signs of lethargy on Monday of last week (today is Sunday). We've been diagnosing a dog...
She's in and out of the nest box this morning. So she must feel like she needs to do something. She ate a little of the special breakfast that I made for her: bread cubes, eggs, egg shell, olive oil and strawberries.... and husband said she drank a bunch of water and had a watery Poo. She's...
Thanks - I hope it's just a fluke. It didn't help that we came home and checked on her (still in the nest box) and not 5 minutes later had a HUGE thunder boom. Weird monstrosity for sure. We'll check on her in the morning and try bread and olive oil, I'll check on their oyster shell, too...
My chicken, a one year old RIR, looked as though she was struggling to lay, we were concerned that she was egg bound (fluffed up, and dropped butt like she was going to poo).
She started acting "funny" at 4pm, and went in the nest box around 6pm. We had already tried lubricant and checking her...
This chickie is about 6 days old. She had this nubbin when we got her.
I got her from Orscheln on March 17th.
Day one at home - March 17th
- - - - - - -
Today - March 22nd
It's dry, not sticky or anything.
What else can I tell you? Thanks for your help!
I think that she maybe had a case of worms, but her respiratory infection also lead to an ear infection. It was after we started giving her antibiotic ear drops that she really turned around!
She has gained a lot of weight since then and is back outside with the rest of the flock!
The Panacur...
Just an update: The veterinarian had me worm Little Ginger with Panacur the day after her Wazine dose. I think it really kicked whatever she had. She's been doing *great*. She is still on antibiotics and probiotics. I don't think doing the worm treatments so close together is not normally a...

Thanks, dawg...
Is there a need to repeat the paste daily? I see in many threads that the water treatment is for 2-3 days... Should I paste-treat them for 2-3 days? Or just once?
Again, thank you for your help.
Thank You!
I learned online that the poo wasn't bloody, it was coral colored eurates - as seen on http://chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0
So there wasn't blood. Which is good. I feel really naive about that now.
We went to the veterinarian on Tuesday, because Little Ginger as...
Thanks for the information!
Husband isn't too keen on helping with the Q-tip swab at this time. The gaping seemed like it was only for a little bit yesterday. Freaked me out, still. She opened her mouth wide, several times, while I had her out of her crate. But, I haven't seen it since...
Thanks guys!
I noticed some "gaping" today - and I'm contemplating safeguard or some sort of ivermectin (which are all so confusing) soon. Will the Safeguard take care of gape worms? How long do I have to wait after the wazine?
I'm just a tad panicked about this little girl. She's a...
