Broody or Bust: Can You Handle a Sitting Hen?

Broody Boss. My little Phyllis has been broody for like 2 months now and won't stop- even if she isn't laying on any eggs. She thinks that I'll let her this time because she has hatched chicks for 2 years in a row now. Last year, along with Rose and Dottie, and the year before, she co-parented...

    Talkinboutchickens' butterfly/caterpillar thread🦋🐛

Currently, I have 10 chrysalides (one of which I believe is infected with a parasitoid wasp), 3 monarch caterpillars, 13 black swallowtail caterpillars, and God only knows how many milkweed tussock caterpillars! They feed in groups so I probably have like 40+.🫢😬

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Those are some beautiful yolks! What feed are feeding them? Just curious, because one time I switched my flock of hens and roos to all-flock after reading the harm the extra calcium can do that's in the feed. I was providing crushed oyster shells on the side, but one of my girls was not eating...

    New to the process

She is definitely a hen, at least I think so. Leghorn hens have abnormally large combs and wattles that can make them be confused with leghorn roosters. Some hens may act like a rooster when there is not one in the flock. Or, she may just be sort of aggressive. These are just my thoughts.

Anyone have any ideas on what breed?

She could definitely be a mix! Not part white leghorn though I don't believe. She looks a lot more like a white plymouth rock to me, or at least part white rock. Especially her build. Her face in the first pic looks like that of a cornish. That first pic though could be entered in the calendar...
