    My Black Star is Sick!

Well, some are hard and some are soft. I think the softer eggs are laid by the older girls.

    My Black Star is Sick!

Hey, all I'm sorry I'm just responding. I didn't realize I had replies and thank you for them. An update on Beauty. She is doing well. It has been so cold down here that I only soaked her a couple of times and then decided to let Mother Nature take its course and she has recovered. During this...

    My Black Star is Sick!

Hello, I am needing some help. I have an almost 2-year-old sick Black Star. She is sitting up and walking like a Penguin. I'm not sure if she's egg bound or if she has a water belly. She is active and eating, but she drags her butt on the ground. She hasn't gained any weight. I did feel an egg...

    Dirty, swollen butt.

I have a chicken who in the past few days has been standing very upright with her tail feathers dragging the ground. She reminds me of a Penguin. Her butt is a little dirty, but her belly isn't swollen. We just had to put a girl down due to her getting really big in her belly area to the point...

    Blue Andalusian thread!

Deltabwa mine lays a white egg. The only way to find out is to try and catch her in the act. At least that was what I had to do. I had trouble with all my new girls laying in the floor. I just kept placing their eggs in the nest and they eventually figured it out. I have 5 boxes and 9 girls 8 of...

    Blue Andalusian thread!

She's beautiful. She looks just like my girl Blu. Mine is kinda mean. I just posted stating that I think mine just started laying and she's @ 44 weeks? I just didn't realize she wasn't laying. Lol maybe that's why Blu was so mean. She's been needing to lay. Haha.

    Blue Andalusian thread!

I got a question. I have a Blue Andalusian hen. She is beautiful, but kinda mean. I handle my girls a lot so she should be used to me being around them. She acts like a roo. Anyways my question is...is it possible for a chicken to not start laying until 44weeks of age? I had always assumed that...

    Hens fighting

Thanks for your response. I went out a little later and they were all roosting happily. I imagine they fight regularly. I just have never seen them fight.

    Hens fighting

I went out tonight to put up my girls. I heard a commotion in the coop and saw two of my girls fighting. I mean their necks stretched out high with the feathers flaired out. They were really laying into each other. Then the roo got involved and one of the girls goes after him. He's a small banty...

My RIR hen has a knot or bump on her face

No she doesn't have any of those symptoms that I know of. It is a little squishy not much though. My uncle raises chickens and recommended my using a syringe to try and drain it and then apply an antibotic rub. I haven't tried it yet.

My RIR hen has a knot or bump on her face

I just noticed this bump on Cinnamon's face. Any idea what it could be and how to care for it? I didn't touch it to see if it is hard or not. Thanks for any help.

My roo won't accept a new hen into the flock

Thank you for your help. Yes he does have the "Little Man Syndrome" I will try putting him in solitaire to see if that helps. I know he won't like it though.Lol Is Blue kote safe to put on chickens? My uncle told me to use Scarlet Oil. Reading up on it it says not to use on any animal that...

My roo won't accept a new hen into the flock

I have a little Bantam rooster who keeps picking on and chasing away my newest hen. Especially when it comes to food. She is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. We have had her for over a month now and my other hens have accepted her and she has found her place in the pecking order with them. He has...
