I only "use" broody hens and it´s the easiest way for me

Alho is one of the old Finnish chicken breeds. It's quite calm, lays well and it's a good mother too. Size is smaller than sussex or brahma and wise like chicken. They go first to the perches in evening and comes out first in the morning :)

I´m trying new litter materials straw pellets and hamp litter. I normally use turf and pine shavings. I do deep litter.

These chick hatched sunday :) There are 2 black and 6 yellow babies, they are mutts so I´m looking forward how they will turn out.
