I’ve attached a photo of what it looked like the next day, slightly scabby. And another photo from just now, you can see where they were
slightly
but not scabby anymore. The scabs went yellow immediately but I have no experience with fowl pox so no clue if it was indeed that.
The next day she developed a few more on the same wattle but very small and turning scab like already. Now 8 days later they’re all pretty much gone. So I’m unsure what it was apart from I had her on a Glucosamine supplement plant based for her arthritis I was trialling. I was about 10 days in...
Hi guys
Posting here to see if anyone can help diagnose
I noticed today a blister on my hens wattle. She’s otherwise acting her normal self and it isn’t a peck wound as I only have 1 other hen and they’re kept separate.
She does have other diagnosed health issues such as arthritis and high...
You definitely want to deworm them if you haven’t already. I’m not sure where you live for what is available to you. Different wormers treat parasites. They can come in different forms as well. Some in powder form to sprinkle, some mixed into pellets, liquid to put in their water etc.
Unless...
Thanks for the reply. I Just needed reassurance she’ll be ok as she’s stopped walking since the first descabbing yesterday. If someone with experience could confirm that their hen was also out of action walking but healed up nicely after.
Her pad on the bigger bumble I removed today is...
Hi guys
Hoping someone with experience can help and calm my chicken loving nerves
One of my girls I discovered on Saturday limping. Checked her feet and it’s the dreaded bumblefoot. Been doing lots of research so have been Epsom salt bathing everyday twice a day, using Vetericyn, iodine, saline...
I didn’t say I couldn’t find chicken feed in my part of the world, not sure what I said that implied that? I said I’ve tried it for them before and they just wouldn’t eat it but I would try again.
Nor did I say anywhere that you were making this stuff up, I said thank you and I would try...
Thanks, I will try and get some tomorrow and see if she eats it
I’ve tried chicken feed for them before and they wouldn’t eat it, tried turning into mash and also fermenting it and they wouldn’t eat it, the bird feed is from a local store which I tried as last resort and they’ve been happily...
It’s not her normal feed that’s done this, they’ve been eating this feed for over 3 years. Even if it was this feed, she’s not eaten this feed in the month she’s been unwell and went off it. All she’s eaten this past month are soft foods Such as potatoe, Greek yoghurt, scrambled eggs and I gave...
Thanks for the response.
Their normal feed is bird feed made up of different seeds, 3x per week grass as where they free range has no grass, mealworms, scraps etc. I’m worried as she’s been suffering for a month and has lost some weight. She’s not completely lost the will to live so I know...
Also to add as I can’t find acified copper sulphate here in the U.K. can I use copper sulphate that isn’t acified? Can I buy it in it’s crystal form and somehow work with it? This is the one I’ve been looking at...
Hi All
One of my hens has been suffering with what I believe to be sour crop for well over a month now 5 weeks or so.
At first I thought it could be coccidiosis so I was about to treat her for this however 4 days into her feeling unwell I smelt the sour breath and immediately knew it had to be...
