    I had the same issue.. I candled the eggs and 3 looked dark, so broke the 6 eggs. 3 were bad but 3 had fully developed chickens that appeared to be dead, no movement and the embryo sack never broke.     Thank you for explaining death in chickens due to old age. My "Chirpy" died this morning. I did keep her in the house overnight and she had the violent kind of fit before she lay still. I will lay her to rest today. She lived for almost 6 years
