    Need quick advice

Update - Parsley passed this morning. Trying to assess if it was Gapeworm and if I should be treating the others. Is there a downside to treating them without knowing if they have them?

Thank you for your response. Definitely not the case - we are fairly cool and comfortable here in NJ.

    Need quick advice

Thank you for a response. I did as best I could - I don’t see anything. She made it through the night - still breathing very heavy. I did get her to eat some yogurt last night. No noise out of her while she is breathing- she is occasionally and rarely making a random squauk/cough.

Just came home to this- what on earth is going on here? Her crop is empty and none of the chatter is coming from her.

    Chicken Hysterectomy

Just coming in on this now, many years later I know. I've been having reoccurring issue -- curious as to who your NJ Avian Specialist was / where they were from? I'm in Monmouth County.

What to do? Detailed Timeline of Issues.

Thank you for your response. He felt something soft - could not tell if it was a soft shell or not. After her crop cleared, I was hoping she passed it but I don't know.

What to do? Detailed Timeline of Issues.

Looking once again for advice/assistance. I will try to be brief. My chickens are pets (spoiled ones at that). Thyme is 1 1/2 years old - great girl, strong, consistent layer, lives with 3 other girls in relative harmony. They eat layer feed, have access to grit, calcium and fresh water...

    Please help me identify this?

Wow-- this made me feel 100% better - I am a novice and want to ensure I am not missing anything obvious. Like you, I have them on flock raiser with oyster shell on side, have been giving them extra protein treats (tuna, worms, etc.) I've sprinkled DE now and again in the run but not enough to...

    Please help me identify this?

Photos of my Barred Rock - approx 9 mos. so should not be molting? Background: she stopped laying months ago, had a bout of water diarrhea for weeks (may or may not be related). 3 other hens she is with are fine/happy/healthy w no feather loss - she is actually fine/happy/eats well/active, etc...

Hen Stopped Laying and 'Water Poop'

LOL "juicy pooper"! She is a Barred Rock. I would tend to agree except she was good all Summer with the same diet - laying regularly and normal poop!

Hen Stopped Laying and 'Water Poop'

Thank you for your input! Food other than chicken feed - treats - a handful here and there and a small salad in the AM. Salads, veggies, fruits, yogurt, oatmeal, scratch, mealworms, crickets, sunflower seeds I switched back to Purina Layena about 10 days ago. They 'free range' in a controlled...

Hen Stopped Laying and 'Water Poop'

First time chicken owner here and have had a pretty easy go of it. Lots of reading and trial and error - my 4 girls have been happy and healthy! All started laying at right about when they should and have been consistent up until recently. It began when I noticed 'water poop' in the coop - and...

    Pacing after first lay

Thanks. She calmed down later that day but has been quite chatty with me. No egg yet this AM :-( She loves to go in the nesting box and pull out all the hay! If I get another egg I will put in the box. Seems I have had such an easy time with them thus far they have done just about everything...
