I think part of the issue was that another duck started the nest, she went half assed broody, so I think a lot of them died from that.... she basically never left her nest and was friendly and now hisses and tries to bite when I take her babies away
That's true, I'm pretty sure the other 7 haven't noticed he is there yet hahahaa They free range my 1/3 acre and only go in for bed and hatched after they were let out
LOL Our 8 adults were brooded in the home, so I could probably handle 4! But I'd rather not! I am nervous that the babies won't be able to get in and out of the coop though. My ducks just jump out the side rather then use the ramp lol
Harvey is begging me to remove all the babies from the mom so they can live in the house with us lol Still only 1 of 4, The other 3 still have no progress from their pips.
Yea I don't have a lot gping on today. Just a lazy toddler whose still asleep hahaha. Im about to go check the babies again. The mom keeps hissing at me. She's over my meddling lol.
Just moving them around like she did the entire time, I just know incubators have to be locked in and that changing position can make the hatch difficult and every time I check the pip holes are pointed down into the bedding. I hope she will do good as a mom onve they hatch.
That's what I thought happened with little guy that died. One was peeping in its shell that night, and then the next morning she had jacked up his shell like that. She keeps flipping over the babies trying to zip. How long should I let them go? The first one has been 24 hours since his external pip
