    The ducklings Shorty hangs around with in the daytime are pretty independent and if any of them decide to go swimming he stays behind with the ones who don't. He seems like a pretty cluey little chick, probably due to necessity.

    It just seems so weird that a beautiful healthy-looking duckling would suddenly fall over like that and die instantly. That one has now been buried but if any more do it we might have to get vet involvement.

    One of my 8 week old muscovies was walking across the grass, seemed to trip or stumble and then fell down dead. It hadn't been sick and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it. There are poisonous snakes in our area, so I'm wondering if it was bitten. Anyone have any ideas?

    Unfortunately little Peeper died while my partner was holding her. We are both pretty upset about it but have 60 ducks and 17 chickens to care for. We won't be doing any more incubating.

    Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

    The weather in Tassie has been weird as well. We need a fire at night but days are around 20. Going to be 38 on Friday! Average for this time of year is 15. I might need to make ice blocks for my chooks as well. I might cut up some watermelon and freeze it.
