Weird Chick Noise

Heartbreaking story. Makes me rethink my longer term goal of someday incubating eggs. Maybe try a broody hen naturally hatching eggs first. Sorry for your losses.

She was incubator hatched but the heat in the brooder failed overnight.

IF you ever decide to try incubating eggs again, I have often suggested using a battery backup system (like for desktop computers) that would sound an alarm if power was lost. If not at home, at least you would have some time on battery backup to keep the incubator warm. I have battery backups for about $50 that can run my desktop system for ~30 minutes. But that is for a complete system up and running full time. I would think an incubator turns on and off depending on the temp, and therefore, in theory, a battery backup might last much longer on an incubator (maybe for hours?). At any rate, the alarm would alert you to a power outage. If your heater unit itself failed, I don't know to overcome that issue.
