Need some input here: I have a small farm, plenty of room; I want to raise some chickens, ducks, or etc; what is the most productive fowl to raise? Some chickens or other fowl more rare than others? If so, seems that I would get a better price for the offspring; cost the same amount for feed...
Well, in that case will buy an incubator or put them under my nesting muscovy ducks. Did that last year; it was funny, but she took care of them for a couple of days till I removed them.

HMMM!!! I am new to raising chickens. I have 5 RIR, 1 black hen, 1 hen that lays light green eggs, 2 golden hens, 1 dominecker.
Too much of a mix???
Did not mention that I have 12 nests, but they have about a 6" side with a roof.

10 hens with a RIR rooster for a year; none ever nested. This year have had 2 different roosters with the hens; left up to 36 eggs in nest for over a week; three different times, but none will nest. Any ideas. They laid all thru the winter.

Fast Responses:) Did not think they would be molting in this cool of weather, but I am a newbie to raising chickens. I have 14 chickens in a pen of about 12 X 16; but I let them out most everyday.

For about a month my RIR Rooster has been losing some feathers in the throat & hindquarter area: hens seem to be OK. Sprayed the whole entire pen & put sevin dust (I know a NoNo) under each wing. Roosters skin is a dark red. Seems to have plenty of energy: cannot seem to find out the...
