Today the little rooster gave his life protecting all the hens from two German Shepherds who had gotten into the yard. He was small but mighty. RIP Napoleon.

I would too, but that doesn't seem to be how things work in this neighborhood. Yeah, the day after they dumped the two little chickens I heard about the new ruling about no chicken sales or transfers because of the disease. LIkely why they dumped them. They couldn't sell them.

That are different from hens? I just got my first rooster (a tiny little Japanese bantam or Serama someone threw over my fence) and I want to give him the best chance possible with my big girls.
I know hens need oyster shell and such, but do roosters have any differing nutrition needs?
