I did the exact same thing yesterday!!
I took it back to the store and the clerk( who has 20 chickens herself) said there wouldn't be a problem using the higher protien blend. thats what she uses. A convenient bigger bag too
what is ordered were buff brahma chicks, what i got may be something entirely different.They are 4 weeks old and solid white . no signs of any tan/brown feathering...yet? what did Ideal send me?

it is gonna be tough now that your pup is jealous.
i have a big dog that i had major concerns about when my chicks first arrived.
I give my dog credit, she is smart, and after declaring that the chicks were "Mine!" she would curiously watch/guard them!!
all is quiet in paradise..

I got some buff brahma chicks from Ideal. They are 3 weeks old now. When do they begin to develop feathers on their legs?
I am trying to tell them apart from some Delaware chicks I got at the same time . Thanks for any help. This forum is great!!! So much to learn and what a great resource.

new member here too. I just got 3 delaware, 3 buff brahmas and 3 ameracaunas(all girls) from Ideal.
I live in Southern NJ and, hope i have made the right choices.After some research I found these breeds to be cold hardy, docile and good egg layers. we shall see if this is true but...
