So, we "got rid" of that chicken. I didn't want her to infect the rest of the flock(s). I don't think we got rid of her in time and have had another fall ill.
The only thing she may have gotten into is some kind of plant that was in the run (although there wasn't much green in there to begin with). They were vaccinated for Mareks, as far as I know. I will keep my eye on her and hope for the best!!!! Like I said before she did eat and drink some...
I can't seem to figure out how to post pics... I brought her in and gave her, her own water with electrolytes and some food. She drank quite a bit and ate some. When I hold her up her legs just kinds of dangle down with her toes all straight down. I held her in one hand and tried to spread...
I read the link. Problem is there are NO vets here that do chickens. I have 21 of these meat birds in with 5 layers (all bought as day olds). As well as 12 layers in another coop. If they don't have that and I treat them anyway will it harm them? Also is it harmful to humans?? Coccidiosis...
I have a white rock x that won't move she just lays there. The others run and spook when I come near . She used to too. She is 5+ weeks and I noticed yesterday she pretty much lays in the same spot all day. I expected to go out this morning and find her dead. She was not dead and had moved...
If she's 6 months old I am pretty sure she's a she (I am no expert, I don't have any Roos). By that age I am pretty sure if it was a roo the comb and wattles would be bigger and he would also have longer tail feathers that curl around. Her's are short and stand up in that triangle shape.
I don't have a rooster or any broody(they are trying to hatch their eggs) hens and I have a couple that have the same thing (and have always had it). I thought it was so if they were hatching eggs they would have skin to egg contact and be able to better regulate egg temp/humidity. Mine don't...
I have a stationary coop and a "tractor cage" that I can move around the yard. After I move it I just rake up the poop and any left behind scraps. At least then you have some control over it.:)
I do know to isolate, however I don't have the room. And my "existing flock" only consists of 4 birds (not that I wouldn't be upset if something happened to them, but I am not going to be at a huge loss). So, I am hoping for the best. What's IB?
I had a really hard time figuring out the...
So, all in all I think the trip went well. I came home with 4 new birds. 1 Cuckoo Maran, 1 Buff Laced Polish, and 2 Ameracanas (which I think are really Easter Eggers). I just hope they are all what I think they are and they are all hens!!!
Cuckoo Maran
Ameracana 1 Her legs are Olive...
