I have been using mine for almost 2 years with no problems. Like others my first set was from eBay and were junk. Make sure you order the ones that will unscrew to clean. I have not had to clean mine but they are a much better quality. My coop is elevated so I made a box with “hardware cloth” on...
I have gotten so many good ideas from you guys
I thought I would share the fruits of our labor
What do they always say,

Great info. I think I may try the wider box and them put a divider in if i have problems.
I have also heard the make them dark before, so I think I will try that.
Great milk carton idea. I am going to try and re-purpose some upper kitchen cabinets and use the door opening on the back side to reach in and get the eggs.
Love the rock idea. It also adds a finished look to the coop. I dont think anything is getting under that. I think I will also add a game camera pointed towards the coop to see what may be trying to get in.
My brother-n-law lost some chickens to predators that reached through the fence and was able to kill a few. So I am going with the smaller ½ hardware cloth. (I dont want to lose any chickens or have to redo the job latter.)
I just started my coop page and I don't know if I will get it finished (finish building the coop) before your contest ends. But if it's still open I am game.
