    Multiple mamas

    I had two hens hatch eggs within two days (and another due in a couple of weeks). I want to keep them separate from the rest of the flock for feeding and so that they don't get trampled by my big roosters. Can more than one mama and her brood live together or will they fight?

    He does have room. He is fairly high in the pecking order, too. He is protective of the coop - if he is near when I go in to get eggs, he will try to attack me and he stands guard for some of the girls while they lay. I did end up going out and moving him so that momma could go back on her eggs...

    Broody Hen in the Fall

    I have a hen who has been sitting on some eggs. They are due to hatch around Oct 27th. This is her third hatch, but first in the Fall. We live in Maine, so it's starting to get colder. After they hatch, will they be fine with just being under Mama or should I bring them (and Mama) inside?
