Incidentally, I had a 4 legged quail hatch a few years ago. It passed away and someone on this site saw the pic and bought it from me. The thread is here somewhere. Hmmm, they built a power plant behind my house... I wonder... LOL
Found it...
The 2nd pic is absolutely a cockerel. I'm still not sure on the 3rd pic. We'll wait it out and let you know. Speaking of oddities. I have a Lavender Orpington I hatched from an egg. It sexed as a hen as well. It STILL "Looks" like a hen from head to toe except, it has spurs and does not lay...
We have 8 different pens and ALL of our birds are kept separate except for chicks and grow outs.
The first is the chick that was hatched naked. It took a long time for her to get any feathers at all. Some of the chocolate all over her body is washed out so she would never be put in a breeding...
I'll run out and get a couple of pics to show what happened here this year. I bred my Solid Chocolate Orpington Rooster to my Chocolate Cuckoo hens to get a couple of Cuckoo Roosters. In 2 separate hatches, I got a cuckoo hen! I don't have a cuckoo rooster so this is a fluke! One of the hens was...
He was pretty cute. Here he is in a grow out pen just now. Can't wait to see how he turns out. The hens from the same hatch are colored the same way and are all cuckoo as well.
Hello!
I wanted to see if anyone could give me answers on these colors. I Purchased royal purple Guineas at a sale last week. I looked up the color and pretty much most of mine are standard. In the same two cages were three very light colored guineas. In person they appear an actual lavender...
I think the mystery has been solved. I sent pics of my adults to a Marans "expert". Apparently, my Blue Copper Roo is split to Wheaten. She said the eyes were a give away. This little one is most likely a Wheaten Marans. My first in 5 yrs!
After thinking about him having such orange legs I got to thinking, I did put guineas in the coop a while back. They are out and free-roaming now but they were in there at one time. So now I'm wondering if it is half guinea!
I raise French copper Marans. I've had them for almost 5 years now. They stay in a coop. 1 black copper Marans rooster 1 Blue Copper Marans rooster. 7 Blue Copper Marans hens. I hatch many many many chicks every year. I always get a good amount of black a good amount of blue and some splash...
I also raise Cemani. I don't sell eggs because if they are crop outs, people think you sold them mix breeds. My crop outs always look like the ones in the hand in previous posts. I usually sell them as a hybrid at a poultry sale even though they are pure.
