    Bay Area BYCers!

I have two beautiful ~4.5 mo Dominique roosters who need good homes. They have not shown any aggression, and one is actually moderately trained to jump onto your arm if you hold it out. (Blackberries or some other treat expected afterwards, of course...) If there's interest, I'd be happy to post...

Dominique Roosters - LF and batams - going on 5mo, SF Bay Area - Free to good home(s)!

Raised by a broody in April from eggs from Nantahala farms, and vaccinated for Mereks. Free-ranged since they left the brooder. They all have wonderful, friendly dispositions. They can be held/picked up, and are people friendly. I'm willing to deliver within a 3hr radius of the San Francisco Bay...

I do! But they're about 6 weeks old. Dominiques raised from eggs ordered from Nantahala Farms. I vaccinated them for Mereks at day one, an they have been happy and healthy. I have both large/normal sized and bantams. Both boys and girls. Let me know if you're interested! Free to a good home :)

    Dominique Thread!

So I have a question. I got Dominique hatching eggs, from a farm that only has Dominiques. 6LF and 6Bantam. One LF and one bantam (so two of the 12 eggs) hatched with straight combs. Does this mean that: a) somewhere in the lineage of the farm I got the eggs from, that there is barred rock and I...

@redapple .... check that, @Chooklet is correct, chix are aaaalways looking for treats. If you have stash of meal worms, and the chicks are still young, you can start training them!

@redapple out of the two coops we have, one group mosies on home around 745, and the other coop gets home and on the roost by 815. I have a wifi timer set to 830 , but have been monitoring the coop webcam these days to make sure all chix are in before the door closes for the night since he days...

    Dominique Thread!

Yes - she did hatch the LFs and bantams at the same time - and they all hatched out within a two-three day window. She's been super attentive, and still very calm around me (not protective of me reaching in an picking up and playing with a chick or two). She puffs up like a huge ball if any...

    Bay Area BYCers!

From the UC Davis lab report: "The lesions observed on gross examination are highly suggestive of a reproductive neoplasia. Probably ovarian carcinoma with spread to the serosal surfaces of the coelomic cavity and metastasis to the liver, pancreas and lungs. These tumors are very common in...

    Dominique Thread!

I had the eggs shipped as I am in California! The eggs were packaged really well, and yes, I was surprised by the variety of egg colors as well when I opened the packaging. My previous doms from Meyer, their eggs were all a creamy pinky brown, but the Nantahala eggs were various shades...a tad...

    Bay Area BYCers!

Hi All, I've been quietly stocking the thread for a while, and finally jumped in with a post here. My broody recently hatched out 12 dominique eggs from Nantahala Farms in North Carolina. The chicks hatched between 4/20 and 4/22. Six are bantam doms, the six are regular doms. I did not expect...

    Dominique Thread!

Just thought I'd share. I ordered hatching eggs from Nantahala Farms (half are Doms, half are bantam Doms), and they all hatched!!! Just a few picts of mom (Khaan) getting overwhelmed :) ' Previously, I had three Doms, and they were all favorites because of their personalities. All were...

Eating behavior, flock bacterial infection symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome (ongoing)

Ameraucanas We're actually not zoned for roosters here, so if it turns out to be a boy, we can't keep it(him). If it's a girl, we'll likely keep it, since now the entire flock has had myco. :( Time = Day7 Labs came back from UC Davis. #5 tested positive for Heterakis gallinarum or Ascaridia...

Eating behavior, flock bacterial infection symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome (ongoing)

This is going to be an ongoing (at least until I have a resolution to the entire thing) documentation of a current (as of 10/19/2015) infection, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of a series of symptoms in my flock. Background About three weeks ago, a mysterious chicken (rooster I think)...

    Metacam for hens

Metacam was prescribed to my chicken: 1.5mg/ml concentration. Dosed at 32cc/#1 "Give 0.85cc 2 times daily by mouth" My poor Phineas was in bad shape by the time she got the prescription. The doc wasn't too sure what was wrong with her, and the doc's best guess was an abdominal adhesion...
