PLA; it's the most common type available and the one I'm most familiar with. It can't withstand high temperatures without deforming, but frankly if people expose their trays to the temperatures which would cause problems (i.e., greater than 100 C) they have much bigger problems on their hands...
... You know, that's a fantastic idea! I didn't even know that would be a thing people might want, but I could have it hook into the turner mechanism and have slots for mesh or something. Hmmm... Going to think it through, but thanks for the idea!
It's pretty crazy what you can do nowadays with commercial printers. My neighbor down the road has a business printing costume props for cosplayers, and my brother and cousin in law both have printers and use them for making props and fun toys for their kids.

It does sit a little higher, mostly because I wanted to try to avoid any chance of scooting under the eggs. You can also add shelf liner to the bottom if the eggs are riding too low in the tray, which serves the dual purpose of listing the eggs up a little and being in place to give the chicks...
When you order your eggs, try to ask that they be shipped via Priority. You might not be able to get a full dozen for that amount, but a small box shipped Priority shouldn't be more than $10 shipping costs. I've had a lot of trouble with things I shipped First Class recently, so I've been eating...
