***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My American Bresse just turned 22 weeks old and just started to lay. That's part of why this is driving me so nuts. Only the Bresse are getting this my Black Australorp are Light Brahma are just fine, but then they are just turned 9 months old. That is a very good point. As a rule I do tend to...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I figured out the at the middle toe was numb because it would kinda flop around as the bird tried to walk and when it would step on the toe like it wasn't even there. And would seem a bit confused when it tried to take another step and had to pull it from underneath it's other foot. There are no...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

There are no wounds, swelling, or fever on them at all. I didn't autopsied any of them because it didn't occur to me and because I lack the intestinal fortitude.

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello everyone! My mom (Free2bme2798) says that you all might be able to help me figure out what is going on with my flock. It's always the same thing: the middle toe on one of the bird's feet will go numb then the whole foot then the whole leg the the bird will either die or I will...

    Bresse Chickens

Thank you for answering! They all have blue legs. I was worried that they getting sick or something. Thank you! It was a wonderful deal. I was originally supposed to get 5 laying hens from him but he called and asked if I wanted these instead because they are as gentler breed.

    Bresse Chickens

Someone traded me 16 Bresse chicks for some older laying hens and a rooster. I am not familiar with this breed at all. So, I have a question that may sound dumb... When I picked them up they had gray/blue eyes and now their eyes are turning yellow. Is this normal?

    Is my rooster "normal"?

Look at the yolk if there is a bulls eye on it it is fertilized. There are pictures of it in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/16008/how-to-tell-a-fertile-vs-infertile-egg-pictures

    Is my rooster "normal"?

Thank you. He reminds me of the rooster on the Kellogg's box. Right now I have 6 hens that are same age as Kelly and I have 2 that are about 4 months old. It's the younger 2 that he doesn't let near the food. I check their eggs so I'm sure that he is not mating them. 0% fertility. What kind of...

    Is my rooster "normal"?

Meet Kelly. He is my one year old Welsummer rooster. I don't know what to make of him these days... I have seen roosters calling hens over when they find food, keeping hens from fighting, and mating with hens. Kelly doesn't do any of these things. Well a five months ago he was mating with...
