    😂 That IS cold to a chicken! Chickens need to have access to food and water from sun up until sundown. You don't need to have food or water for them overnight as they are only going to be perching and staying safe off the ground.

    I am in Stockton, I considerer us hands down Northern California. I would say the dividing line should be around Bakersfield or Kettleman City if it ever came down to it.

    We have 85ft of floor space in our coop which is like 17sq ft per chicken with 5 chickens. Once out of the coop it is free range baby for our babies, they have plenty of space to roam!

    Integrating a broody hen back into flock

    I know this may sound silly but have you tried putting her out into the coop at night? That has been the best time for me adding a new addition or one that was injured and had to be reintroduced to the flock.
