Right on. Could I potentially use the 1/4 for the roof/ceiling from birds and Hawks? Then I could utilize what I have. My ranch supplies are closed Sundays and tomorrow for the holiday so trying to use what I have. I don't have rats here. There are some mice though.
I have 1/4 cloth i was going to go 18in up the sides and try to bury/apron and secure the other 18inch to the ground. Being its 3ft cloth. I have 1/2 cloth i was going to secure to the entire inside of the run with. On top of the 2x4 mesh as well around the bottom edge. And I have a plan for...
First coop and run. Trying to figure out if what I'm thinking will work. Living in north western Colorado is damn near impossible for me to dig 18inch or even 12 in my yard. Massive and alot of cobble stone. Was wondering if my 6in trench will work if I do 18in of skirt on the inside and...
Im in northwestern Colorado and it was snowing Sunday and Monday haha. Still gets down in the 30s and when it snow its 20s at night. But I think thats coming to and end. I think this week calls for mid 30s or higher at night and 60s and 70s during the day. I dont watch them too much as theyre in...
Yeah I'm about to let them do their thing and get a little dust bath in there and bigger feeders and all until I get this big set up done. Should I try to start leaving the heat lamps off during the day and night now before the big area so they can start getting used to it?
Oh thats what I'm working on now. Their bigger coop and run. Just want them to mingle before the big area too. Should have this all done and hardware clothes by the end of the day if not tomorrow.
I have some chickens that are about 6-7 weeks and some that are 4-5 weeks all of which are about the same size except my roo whom is a little younger. I have them separated and able to see and smell each other. And I'm sure they've been able to smell each other for weeks now. How long do i need...
I'm in north western Colorado. So it still gets below freezing at nights at times. So 20s. Nothing crazy. Just being cautious because of how young they are. But from what I've seen and heard.... if they have their hear lamps then all is good.
Oooo maybe I'll do that when I set them up in the garage might even enclose a specific area with a moving blanket to get the heat in one spot. It still gets down to the 20s sometimes. Supposed to rain and drop under 30 at night. Maybe I'll even get another light just to be extra until I get this...
This is the way I have them set up now. The back on are the 4 week Olds and the front ones are about 2 weeks old. Was thinking of moving this to garage and just securing it a little better and with tougher wire incase anything trys to mess with them.
Whats the youngest I could have them in those kinds of temps? Just curious as I plan to keep babies on the regular as I plan to breed. I'm new to the chicken world. But these first few I've gotten I've kept them in as it was still puking snow a month ago haha. Didn't want my babies dying
