Here ya go, we named him Aster. He has some yellow in him, but it goes away after a molt. I also have a breeder quality Speckled Sussex. I bought a flock, 4 hens and he had to come with them. But he's beautiful. I just wanted the hens. I have 10 roosters, too many. Mr. Speckles cost me $20, but...
Hi, I have a 1 1/2 year old LF SLW rooster. I don't know about breeder quality, he was thrown in with a chick order from Estes Hatchery. I'm not NPIP or AI tested either, but thought I'd offer him to you. He is free. He will sit on your lap, very tame, and not aggressive. I live in GA, outside...
Thank you. My hens are 8 months old to 2 years old. I have 12, and 1 very eager rooster. I have 1 RIR, 1 barred rock, 4 EE, 3 buff orpingtons, 2 black sexlinks, and 1 BLSW. My rooster is a BLSW as well.
I just put saddles on two of my hens that are missing back feathers from our rooster mating with them. I don't know how long to keep them on. Do I leave them on all the time, removing occasionally to wash them? What if they get wet or damp? Anyone else know what to do?
I purchased 4 (maximum allowed) Jubilee Orpington hatching eggs from them in September. After 14 days, and candling, there was no sign of development. I looked inside, could clearly see a blastoderm in each egg, none had the bullseye appearance of being fertile. I emailed to let them know to...
My chickens love the rain, too. I think they like scratching in the mud for worms. One of our easter eggers is crazy about the water hitting the ground. She figured out how to rock the hanging waterer and drained all the water out in less than an hour. Now we use a brite tap waterer or the hens...
What an interesting discussion! I wash and put mine in the fridge. I had no idea, learn something new all the time. What does washing do to the egg? Mine are only for eating at the moment, no roosters.
