Not enough evaporation. They will drown.

UPDATE!!!! I've been running a dehumidifier next to the incubator with all vents open. SOME eggs have larger air cells, YAY , some don't. But the humidity has gotten down to 32 that's the best I can do in a small closed off room with a ceiling fan and dehumidifier. It's HUMID here! Everyone is...

Oh, lol, I've never thought about it like that. I've always put wet elecronic things in a bag of rice if they were damp, like you read about. Well, it was just a wild thought anyways, born of desperation. Lol

Monitoring call duck egg weight loss during incubation

This helped me immensely. Thank you for doing this. I'm currently having a humidity issue due to weather , and this batch is not losing weight. I've begun running a dehumidifier beside the incubator with the plugs out , we'll see what happens.

Thanks for responding. I've got the dehumidifier running. I hope it is enough to dehydrate the eggs quickly , we've got a week to work with. I'm not sure about a dry rag. But my thoughts with the rice are like if you accidentally get your phone wet, and you put it in a bag of dry rice, it...

Not enough evaporation. They will drown.

I have not had a great duck year. My ancient incubator killed a whole batch by malfunctioning. Then I had two really good batches, and now I have 36 eggs in my farm innovator and it has been raining and horrifically humid for 2 weeks. I moved that incubator upstairs to my bedroom, where I...

Worst incubation EVER, so discouraged, let's speculate 😭

Thank you so much! I'm getting great advice here! I've got 2 farm innovators and 2 little giants and I'm thinking I'll start over with new incubators, I don't know when, but in the meantime, I'm getting a few govees to help me know what's going on. And I'm going to see about the fisherbrand too.

Worst incubation EVER, so discouraged, let's speculate 😭

Thanks for this info! I also have 2 little giants going. And consistently I get 5 or 6 eggs that hatch 2 3 or 4 days later than the others and the same for early birds, a few a couple days before they're due. So there must be cold and hot spots. There are 3 down there right now who are on day...

This is too long , ducks are the worst

The first tiny pips were Tuesday morning, I can't remember the time, 17 had hatched completely by Thursday lunchtime . These 2 who hatched make 19. I'm guessing an hour ago , they are still wet. That's about 80 hours from external pip. This is my second incubator full, something terrible...

This is too long , ducks are the worst

Alright I've gone down to look at the pippers and 2 are laying hatched in the incubator. That's 2 left to go. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon. They are enormous. Almost like a gosling.

No, but I did on a few that died. They were trying to pip the wrong end. This one hasn't done anything. Maybe this evening I'll try a hole at the wrong end? I'm not sure . I don't want to kill it if I try something but I think it'll die if I do nothing. Perhaps there was a cold spot in the...

This is too long , ducks are the worst

They have their beaks out, they've made holes large enough to peer into and still see juicy veins that I'm not comfortable at messing with. They are still moving their beaks and peeping. There is also one I discovered that is alive and moving , I've candled it , that has not internally pipped...

This is too long , ducks are the worst

They're at the correct end of the egg. All picked into their air cells and three of them look to be positioned correctly except one has his head under his foot . This morning would have been 72 hours already.

This is too long , ducks are the worst

I few days ago I posted about the worst duck hatch ever. And we've brainstormed and think it's the incubator. That incubator is now gone. The next round hatched a few days ago , 16 out of 21. Better, but ..... My only issue now is that I have some that began pipping Tuesday morning when I...

Some Look Ready, Some Look a Week Behind

Yes, those are definitely dead. I'm sorry. Even if they are that small still, you'd see them wiggling around. Can we help identify what may have gone wrong? I just had an ABYSMAL duck hatch myself. 7 out of 25. And I had to help most of those hatch.

Worst incubation EVER, so discouraged, let's speculate 😭

I am using 3 separate units. 2 farm innovators, and one little giant. I have a thermometer in there and one farm innovators is doing well, the little giant is going well, but the second farm innovators is DEFINITELY a problem. I knew it seemed like it was running hot. And I couldn't keep the...
