    Duck #2

Hey yall! We realized that we haven't been on BYC in a long time, so we're due for an update! One of our goats had two kids, and we've been very distracted by their cuteness. See?? Oreo (left) and Piper (right). They're awesome! Sooooo Scuba is officially getting his green head...

Oh, I see it now. Well shoot! It's going to take me a while to call him a boy now... oh well, thanks! Any tips on clipping his wings? When should we do it? He's 9 weeks old.

    Duck #2

Is this what you needed to see? Check out how cute Scuba is... Whatchu lookin' at? Sleeping...standing up... We're not going to clip her wings just yet. When is the right age to do it? She is 2 months old. We read that you shouldn't trim new feathers because they could have a quick and make...

    Duck #2

We're doing it right now! Side note: no quacking while we chased Scuba around the yard...not even when we picked him/her up. Just raspy noises!

Yes, her run has shade and her "house" has a roof covering it. She has plenty of shade... She is in the bath tub now, after a dramatic escape/fly/run out of her house!

    Duck #2

We are going to get that picture soon. Today was a sunny, low breeze day with a high of 81. I just got home and went outside to see Scuba and she appears to be panting like a dog... I thought they regulated their temperature once they have their adult feathers?? We are going to put her in a cool...

    Duck #2

We will try to get a picture of Scuba's wing...she is not too fond of us touching her anymore. We also noticed she does not have the curled "sex feather" that everyone talks about with 2 month old ducks. Not even a slight curl in sight. We already talked about making the run bigger for Scuba...

    Duck #2

Right now Scuba has a raspy peep noise...it used to be a loud peep and quack, but its a bit raspy now. No green on her head yet, and she has the continuous white strip on her wing that we've been told is a tel-tale female marking. But we shall see :) We just noticed her feet are getting yellow...

    Duck #2

Ok, so Easter weekend was a success. We were nervous about leaving Scuba here at our house while were out of town, but she did great! We learned that she is terrified of being in the dark, so we left our backyard lights on for her. We had the hose on, dripping water into her bucket, and it was...

    Duck #2

Aww, thats so cute and sad all at the same time. So we're really in trouble now. We went to the feed store to get another lamp bulb, and there were still 4 ducks in the box...it was a sign, because they usually sell within an hour or two of being put out in the box...so we may have purchased...

    Duck #2

Haha welllll not so well. We started by giving Scuba bath time, and she flew out of the bath tub when she was done...not even joking. So while she was drying herself off we brought the little one in and I put her in my lap (away from Scuba) so that they could hear each other. Scuba ran to the...

    Duck #2

We have a 2 month old mallard (female, we think) named Scuba who lost her friend a month ago and is lonely. We are working on getting her set up outside in a makeshift coup and enclosed run, since it's warming up and she has all her adult feathers in. She will go out this weekend. We have been...
